Your Student Finance England Application Checklist

Student Finance England opens applications months before courses begin, and applying early is the single biggest thing you can do to make sure your maintenance loan lands in your account during freshers' week.

Before you start, gather your National Insurance number, a valid passport or immigration status share code, your course and university details, and household income information for the relevant tax year.

The most common reason a home student's application stalls is an unresolved fee status query. If your residency history is complex, send your evidence in the same week you submit — do not wait to be asked.

Once your application is approved you will receive an entitlement letter. Check that both the tuition fee loan and the maintenance loan appear on it, and that the payment schedule matches your term dates.
